The Teen Parent Advisory board was created in response to the mandate for all Careers in Technical Education programs to have a community advisory board. The advisory board soon discovered that an additional benefit of the board’s connection was to improve awareness and access to resources available to pregnant and parenting teens in Benton and Franklin Counties. This group operates as the CTE advisory board for the GRADS programs at New Horizons High School and Tri-Tech Skills Center.

The advisory board has since been utilized as a collaborative for all agencies and individuals working with teen and young parents in Benton and Franklin counties. On November 13, 2018, a name change to Healthy Young Parent Collaborative (HYPC) was approved. The Healthy Young Parent Collaborative will continue to serve as the community advisory board for local GRADS programs, as well as a linkage and referral resource for those working with young parents. The focus population for this work includes young parents up to the age of 25.
