Every year in the United States, HPV causes 33,700 cancers in men and women. About 14 million people in the United States become newly infected each year. Most people with HPV never develop symptoms or health problems. Sometimes HPV infections will last longer than normal and can cause certain cancers and other diseases. HPV vaccination could prevent most cancers and other diseases caused by HPV.
