The Benton-Franklin Health District (BFHD) Water Lab has been providing a wide range of environmental monitoring, analytical services, and public consultations to the clients of Benton and Franklin counties and surrounding areas. Our goal is to protect the health of our citizens, provide necessary information to help protect our environment and help the public and private sectors to meet their regulatory responsibilities.

HOLIDAY CLOSURE AND SAMPLE SUBMISSION NOTICE
Laboratory will be closed on Monday, September 7th (Labor Day Holiday)
Sample Submission Advisories: Please call us at 509-460-4206 if you plan to submit BOD/CBOD samples during the week of September 1st. We plan operate BOD on Thursday and Friday (Sept. 3rd and 4th).

Sample Containers and Sample Submission: All sample containers are provided by the BFHD Lab. Clients can pick up containers, make payments and submit samples at our Environmental Health Front Desk (Second Floor in the Kennewick Office).
Laboratory Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Hours may change around holidays. Please call 509-460-4206 to confirm availability during holiday periods
Recommended sample drop-off times:
- Monday–Thursday: before 4:30 p.m.
- Friday: before 3:30 p.m
This ensures adequate time for same-day test setup. Some tests require samples to be submitted within a limited hold time and on certain days during the week.
If you anticipate submitting a large number of samples, please coordinate with our laboratory staff to arrange the best drop-off time. Doing so can help avoid additional fees for overtime or special services.
