The Benton-Franklin Health District (BFHD) Water Lab has been providing a wide range of environmental monitoring, analytical services, and public consultations to the clients of Benton and Franklin counties and surrounding areas. Our goal is to protect the health of our citizens, provide necessary information to help protect our environment and help the public and private sectors to meet their regulatory responsibilities.

HOLIDAY CLOSURE AND SAMPLE SUBMISSION NOTICE (for JUNE and JULY 2026)

Laboratory will be closed on the following dates. No sample testing or receiving will occur on these days:

  • Friday, June 19, 2026 (Juneteenth Holiday)
  • Friday, July 3, 2026 (Independence Day observed)
Sample Submission Advisories: Please call us at 509-460-4206 if you plan to submit coliform and other microbial samples on:
  • Thursday, June 18, 2026
  • Thursday, July 2, 2026
The laboratory will NOT accept QT-tray and G.A.P (Good Agricultural Practices) samples on these dates. We also will NOT accept coliform and other microbial samples on: Thursday, July 2, 2026.
Submission of these samples on restricted dates may result in additional overtime fee OR the samples being declined.

Sample Containers and Sample Submission: All sample containers are provided by the BFHD Lab. Clients can pick up containers, make payments and submit samples at our Environmental Health Front Desk (Second Floor in the Kennewick Office).

Laboratory Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Hours may change around holidays. Please call 509-460-4206 to confirm availability during holiday periods

Recommended sample drop-off times:

  • Monday–Thursday: before 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday: before 3:30 p.m

This ensures adequate time for same-day test setup. Some tests require samples to be submitted within a limited hold time and on certain days during the week.
