Mr. Dawson is a lifelong resident of eastern Washington State and shares many of the experiences, beliefs, and concerns as the citizens of the community. His longevity and unique environmental health perspective assists the Health District to address the changing needs and challenges of the local community. Upon graduating from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health he quickly went to work, spending the next 30 years building a career and life devoted to public health. While public health has spent the better part of a century addressing communicable disease and regulatory compliance, he sees new challenges and risks facing the community today including chronic conditions, funding, and the need for local expertise. He not only leads, but works along side public health staff to prevent, promote, reduce injury, and protect not only the citizens, but the environment as well.
