Unwanted Medications

Washington House Bill 1047 was passed became law in 2018.  The goal of the HB 1047 is to reduce the impact of drug poisonings in Washington State through the creation of a single, uniform, statewide system for safe and secure collection and disposal of medicines.  However, it will take 1-2 years before the program to go into effect.  In the meantime, the safest way to dispose of your unwanted pharmaceuticals is to take them to your local law enforcement agency or wait for community drug take back events sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).  You can also ask your local drug store or physician if they are willing to take your unwanted medications.
