Event Description:

The State of Our Youth Symposium focuses on bringing together community partners and professionals who work with youth to understand the state of our youth. By utilizing Healthy Youth Survey data and other data sources related to the child and adolescent population, we collaborate to improve systems and services for our youth.

Event Summary:

At the symposium we heard from Pernell Hodges on a deep dive through the data (Healthy Youth Survey data, and other sources)

We then heard from a facilitated panel with representatives from ESD123, United Way, BFHD, and Boys and Girls Club. Panelist shared about their experiences with the work they do in the community and answered audience questions.

Kristi Sharpe highlighted some community-driven solutions that we have in the Benton-Franklin area and shared the role Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences (H.O.P.E.) plays in our community, and how we can leverage it to address local issues.

We concluded the session with an interactive discussion, where attendees wrote their responses to group discussion questions on sticky notes and shared them with the group.

Event Engagement:

We had a total of 76 attendees with around 31 different organizations present. Many of the participants mentioned that the event was well-organized and insightful, they appreciated the depth and relevance of the data presented. What participants valued most was the strong sense of community and collaboration in supporting our youth.
